Hi, my name is Bessie.
I am a working girl, I am a fully qualified Guide Dog and my mastser
is fully blind. I have to take him everywhere. It's a hard job but
I really enjoy my work. It's a big challenge. We have just come
back to Mudgee after three months away. We went to Marree and saw
Lake Eyre. It was very hot and dry there even though there was some
water in the lake. I enjoyed rolling on the salt crust and then
in the black ooze that came through. That was fun! After that, we
went down to the Eyre Peninsula where we took lots of nice walks
along the beach, I rolled in the sand and swam in the salt water.
A nice fisherman had buried some fish heads in the sand; I had a
lovely feast and rolled in them too! I thought I smelt great but
my master wasn't impressed when I was sick in the caravan. As we
were heading home, we found some places where people had fires and
I loved rolling in the fine ash. By the time we got home, I didn't
look like a golden labrador anymore. I had bits of red, brown, black
and grey in my coat. My master very quickly took me to Church Street
Veterinary Hospital for a hydrobath. I saw the love of my life (one
of the friendly nurses) and she gave me a wonderful wash! I reckon
all dogs should get their masters to take them into Church Street
Veterinary Hospital to visit the friendly staff. By the way, the
Vets are pretty good also. They know all about things to do with
us canines.
Love from 'Bessie'
