Get to know Vet, Dr Devon – what he loves about working with animals and the advice he wishes every pet owner knew.
1.What inspired you to become a veterinarian?
Probably a mix of loving animals and enjoying science a little too much. The more experience I got during uni, the more I realised I loved the mix of problem solving, hands on work and helping both pets and their owners.
2.Do you have any pets of your own?
I don’t have one at the moment, but I definitely want to change that soon. Working around animals every day has made me miss having a furry little housemate.
3.What do you love most about working in this community?
I love how friendly everyone has been. Working in a regional town also means you see such a wide mix of cases and get to build real connections with both the pets and their owners.
4.What’s one piece of advice you wish every pet owner knew?
Your pets are usually tougher than they look, but they’re also very good at hiding when something’s wrong. If you feel like something seems off, it’s always worth getting it checked earlier rather than later.
5.Do you have a favourite animal? What is it and why?
Definitely dogs. They all have such different personalities and somehow know how to make your day better.
