There are many benefits to teaching your puppy to be well behaved at an early age. Young puppies are quite able to learn obedience skills, toileting behaviour and social boundaries. All of these things help make your relationship with your dog more rewarding for the years to come.
We provide an effective Puppy Pre-school program for all of the puppies that visit our clinic. With our progressive and positive learning techniques you will:
Develop an understanding of normal puppy behaviour.
Learn how to read your puppy's body language and respond appropriately.
Develop effective techniques for positive behavioural development.
Learn important tips about walking in public areas.
Understand the need for socialising your puppy.
Teach your puppy some important 'do not' lessons
Understand important boundaries when playing together.
Develop strong bonds between you and your puppy
The most important thing about Puppy Pre-school is 'start early'. Waiting too long can allow behaviour problems to establish which then require more intensive training to overcome.
When and how long is the course?
Puppy Preschool classes are held once a week, on Thursdays from 6.30 - 7.30pm, and runs over 4 weeks.
Where is it held?
Classes are held at our practice at 138 Church Street, Mudgee.
How old should my puppy be?
Puppies should be between 6-16 weeks of age. If your little canine friend is outside this age group, but you would like to participate in some training or education, please contact us to discuss the alternatives for junior dog training.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring a lead and make sure your puppy has a comfortable, well-fitted collar. No choker chains please. If your puppy was not vaccinated at Church Street Vet Hospital, you'll need to bring puppy's current vaccination record. Vaccinations are essential prior to starting puppies at preschool.
Should I feed my puppy before class?
Please don't feed your puppy in the 2 hours before the class as puppies like to sleep after a meal. We need them to be alert and responsive in Puppy Preschool and hungry enough for the tasty treats on offer that we use for positive reinforcement.
How do I book my puppy into a class?
Bookings must be made in advance, so please call Church Street Vet Hospital on 63726780 and we will book you in to our next available course.
Payment to be made prior to the course or at the first class. Price includes all treats for your puppy during classes as well as a certificate upon graduation and a graduation present for puppy for a job well done!
